Occupy Newark Greets Occupy Caravan

by The North Star on June 15, 2012

Occupiers are traveling caravan-style from the four corners of the United States to converge in Philadelphia for a national gathering from June 30 to July 4, picking up riders and vehicles along the way. The northeast caravan will stop in Newark, New Jersey overnight on June 29.

In Newark, caravanners will be welcomed at a greeting hub and receive information about actions taking place where they can join in solidarity with local residents. They will also receive directions to the homes, churches and organizations hosting them for the night.

You are welcome to join the actions, festivities and share the evening’s potluck meal. Bring your signs! Bring your instruments! Bring your voices!!!

Join this event to receive information as it becomes available. This is a rough outline of the day as it looks now (may change, so check back).

Is there any particular reason why the caravan is not stopping in New York? What would it take to swing into the City and stop off at Zuccotti Park to pick people up?

In – fucking – credible that you are consciously and deliberate avoiding the origin point of the whole Occupy movement.

FYI: For those who are traveling from NYC and would like to come to Newark to meet and greet the caravan, stay over and possibly travel into Philly the next day they can simply take a $2.00 Path train ride from the World Trade Center or a few other locations in NY to Newark Penn Station. This is only about a 20 minute train ride.

From Newark Penn Station you walk about 3 blocks to Raymond Blvd and Broad St. and you’re at Military Park.
