The North Star: Progress Report and Fund Appeal

by The North Star on September 24, 2012

It has been six months since The North Star was launched and four month since its shift from an exclusively Occupy focus to anti-capitalist unity/regroupment. We’ve had participation from members of Solidarity, Democratic Socialists of America, Socialist Alternative, Kasama Project, Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, Occupy activists in NYC, Oakland, and Newark, a former Black Panther, independent socialists, and folks from the Black Orchid Collective in Seattle and Advance the Struggle in the Bay Area. We’ve also established relationships with pro-revolution Libyan and Syrian-Americans and done solid video journalism around pro-revolution Syrian-American rally in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 2.

An informal collective of collaborators has evolved to develop and administer the site whose readership has steadily grown from roughly 200 returning visitors a month in April 2012 to 3,900 returning visitors in August 2012.

What The North Star needs now is a professionally designed masthead and a site redesign. The former requires money for an artist, so please donate if you would like The North Star to continue advancing. We need a few hundred dollars at least. With a proper masthead, we can roll out a new format for the site since its present layout is not well-suited for posting content almost seven days a week. In addition, it costs $16.95 a month to host the site and we would like to rely on the ongoing financial support of readers/participants rather than than the gracious beneficence of one or two people as we have thus far.

What’s up with the donation button here? Doesn’t seem to be working on this end.

Never mind, I got it, and hopefully you got the bread on that end. Peace.
